As the name already suggests, this genre is most easily described as an “art project” by itself. Artists in this genre more often than not make use of the Jazz genre in their music, but using this genre doesn’t automatically make an artist or group qualify for this genre.
If the theme of the artist or group can be considered an art project in itself, it’s very likely that it can also be categorized as an アート系 (Art Kei) project, regardless of the Jazz genre being present in the music or not.
GrimAqua already released the digital version of their very first mini-album “AQUAISM” on February 29 of this year, but also announced a physical release coming in late March. Fans who like to have an actual CD on display in their collection can do exactly that since March 27!

The last time we spoke to 砂月-SATSUKI- was at the end of 2014, when he was on tour to promote his new album “Squall of Emotions”. In that interview he already said that he gained a lot of inspiration from this tour, and that clearly wasn’t a statement to keep people happy. 砂月-SATSUKI- is currently back in Europe
